Stephen Brathwaite works primarily in glass but will use whatever material is necessary to realize a concept. He trained at the Derix Glass Studios in Kevelaer, Germany. As a professional glass artist, Stephen has taught with Scarborough Board of Education, St. Lawrence College and Algonquin College. His courses usually present an overview of Stephen's favourite glass art techniques including photo etching and painting, slumping and casting, cutting and various assembly methods.

Stephen has worked as a theatrical and television puppeteer for many years including groundbreaking shows for CBC, BBC, YTV, TVO and Disney. His movie credits, as a puppeteer, include A Muppet Family Christmas (Henson & Associates, 1987) and The Bride of Chucky (Universal Studios, 1998). His work has been commissioned by every level of government and is included in public, private and corporate collections in the form of stained glass panels, glass sculpture, multi-media indoor and outdoor sculpture, furniture, portraits and awards.
